About Us

,

I’m Alex, I got my first DSAP spot when I was about 21 years old which is pretty young. I grew up in Southern California and spent way too much time at the beach.

I’m now 44 years old and having been living with DSAP for more than half my life. I’ve learned some pretty good tips and tricks on managing DSAP over the past 23 years but even still,  like you I would love to finally find a cure for this disease.

I started the DSAP Institute to bring awareness about this disease to the medical profession so that a cure can be found. I also wanted to create a resource and community for people who have the disease because most dermatologists have never even heard of DSAP so they are usually not much help.

But until a cure is found, the DSAP Institute will be a place where we can educate and share with each other what has worked and hasn’t worked in our journey so far so others can benefit

I know we all want to be able to wear shorts again without worrying about our spots. I’ve talked to hundreds of DSAP’ers over the last years and have taken careful notes on what they have done to help manage and hide their spots. I’ll share with you the golden nuggets from what I’ve learned.

Remember, the goal is to grow as big of a community as possible so we can approach researchers with enough statistics and information to enable them to start searching for a cure.

While you’re here, help us find a cure and take our survey.

My way of growing this community will be to provide lots of information, tips and knowledge as a way to gain interest and participation.

I look forward to getting to know you personally!
